5. Back To Life

We never fully know what the future holds,

At times, we get some partial impressions

Perhaps when into life's horizons we gaze

Or we fold the arms and lean back to ponder

The eyes are closed, yet we see still

Pictures are perceived, a new vision received.

Journeying through life's peaks and troughs details unfold

At peak periods, our visions need revisions

Mountains climbed through paths twisting, turning like a maze

We have gone further, higher and now wonder

Eyes wide opened the vista makes us reel

Against all odds, we are glad that we believed.

Mountain top periods, worth their lengths as weights in gold

Followed by a gradual descent with new missions

Carefully, purposefully and resolutely we step through a haze

For all we left behind our hearts have grown fonder

Our eyes have seen the need to invent a better wheel

Another outcome of all we have perceived.

On with the work with gusto, for we are daring and bold

The unexpected happens perhaps due to an omission

Goals seem to have disappeared as in a fiery blaze

We fight to get out of the rut, a dark trench in anger

With determination, grit, refusal to quit, a strong will

We have clambered out and rest relieved.

Our lives without evil control can go in ways foretold

Dreams, visions, plans with relentless work can come to fruition

All we have achieved and become, leaves us in a daze

We saw the invisible, heard the inaudible yet did not blunder

How awesome and blessed our success makes us feel!

True greatness achieved exceeded what we conceived.
